In its organizing documents, Azark Foundation stated an intention to “engage in activities with the intent of capacity building (individuals and organizations) and community improvement, including: conducting research, education & workforce development, technical assistance, and resource utilization.”

To meet our mission we plan to function as an operating foundation, directly operating many of our programs, projects, and activities. We also plan to collaborate with other non-profit organizations, at least initially, to achieve our mission.

As we translate our mission into specific actionable projects, we will consider 3 interrelated concepts. Each of our activities will be designed to impact one (or more) of these… agency, resources and knowledge. The interplay of agency, resources, and knowledge is a fundamental concept in the field of social sciences. By strategically combining efforts that address agency, resources, and knowledge, Azark Foundation can contribute to positive and sustainable changes in individuals' lives and communities.

The interplay of agency, resources, and knowledge is a multidirectional relationship. Agency enables individuals to make choices and act, while resources determine the range of options available to them. Knowledge enhances both agency and resource utilization by providing insights and information. These factors are interconnected and mutually influential, shaping individual behaviors, societal structures, and development trajectories.

Agency refers to the capacity of individuals or groups to act independently, make choices, and exert influence over their own lives and the world around them. We specifically believe our mission includes addressing mental health.  Health, both mental and physical, plays a significant role in shaping an individual's agency—their capacity to make choices, take actions, and influence their own lives and the world around them. The state of a person's health can have a profound impact on their ability to exercise agency effectively.
